On this day, I think about all of the old, old men, whose light is about to be snuffed out by time, and how time catches up to us all. These old men made it through the worst day of their lives, sixty-four years ago. Only to be taken now by age and infirmity.
So, today, if you see a bent old man, wearing his VFW cap, go up and thank him. Buy his lunch. You owe him more than you'll ever know.
We all do.
