I hate bullshit like this.
I kinda like LaPierre, and I loved Heston, but the one time I joined, way back when, well, I have never gotten more junk mail in my life. And always begging me for more money. I treat them as seriously as I do Bill Ruger. The fag.
Bullshit like this is one of the reasons I carry illegally. There is absolutely nothing wrong with training using Airsoft guns. What's the matter, can't catch or throw a Nerf football? Not my problem. Idiot.
Now, I must admit that I want you to do your class final with live ammo in a real gun, but what do I care if it is a .22? And what a great opportunity for gunmakers to set up booths advertising their wares, and selling them at discounted prices to students, if they qualify with the one they choose that feels good to them.
For the uninitiated into the Club of the Gun, a .22 is plenty loud and bangy. And as I've said before, you should do at least some training sans hearing and eye protection. A bad guy in the middle of the night is not going to give you time to 'be safe', and said devices limit your most important senses.
Funny, you never see troops in Iraq And Afghanifuckistan wearing earplugs.
Sure, I'm heavily weapons trained. Does that make the 2nd Amendment apply more to me than you? Oh, and where does the Constitution mention testing and licensing? Seriously?
Do I have more of a right to Life And Liberty than you do?
On a practical note, I recommend a .38 snubby revolver for both men and women, who are beginners. Load it with 158 grain wadcutters. Next upgrade, perhaps a Browning BDA .380 auto. Beautiful weapon, and fit for most hands.
Or, you can be a victim. Your choice.
