This being the day we celebrate MLK's death from gunfire by a stupid white cracker...hey, was it too much to ask that he get Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton, too? And I hate that smarmy fucker Andrew Young...
Anyway, I would like to own a slave. I don't care what color, but I suspect that a big strong black guy would be better for the heavy lifting and digging I need done.
Hey, people sell themselves into indentured servitude all the time. They get $7 an hour for serving burgers, or pushing carts around in grocery store parking lots. If that's not slavery, I don't know what is.
And there is this big myth about how badly slaves were treated back in the day. Horror stories made up out of whole cloth by do-gooder nanny-state Abolitionists. John Brown was one of the most cold blooded murderers this country has ever produced. He ranked on a par with Quantrill.
No, buying a slave was on a par with buying a Mercedes is today, pricewise. You don't enter the Mercedes in a destruction derby, and you don't mutilate your human property, either. You feed them, and nurture them, and quite often they became like family members, and screamed and cried when the Yankees 'liberated' them.
Giving them value saved their lives, otherwise their fellow blacks would have simply slaughtered them, in tribal warfare. Or taken them captive, and used them as slaves themselves.
I'll admit that the accommodations on the slave ships were not first cabin on the way here, and yes, families were broken up. And yes, there were assholes, sadistic motherfuckers that bought them just to fuck them up.
But by and large, the black population of this country would not exist, and people like Clarence Thomas and Thomas Sowell would not exist, had slavery not existed.
Slavery is still very much alive and well and prospering in the world today. I'm wondering when Wal-Mart will open up a Slave Shop, alongside their Garden Shop. Think there'll ever be a Slaves-R-Us store?
What goes around, comes around. Life is circular...
