I want you all to buy this CD. I've got track #10 on repeat, and every so often, my eyes mist up, it is so beautiful.
I was so excited when I ordered it, that I didn't even notice that it had been remastered to include six new tracks, songs I had never heard before, and TWO hidden tracks. What a lovely surprise.
When the wife brought it in from the mail, my hands were shaking as I opened the package. I had not heard this music since my oldest son was a baby...27 years ago, when my album was stolen, still one of the greatest losses in my life.
In all of my life, I was the only person I know to have a copy of it. Very rare. I was once offered big bucks from a local, big-time FM station to buy it from me. All they had were a couple of distro singles from the label, of a couple of the songs that got air play for a while.
This was back in the day when being a DJ meant something, meant you were a huge music aficionado, and these guys drooled when I brought it in. I would not sell it, and I wouldn't even leave it alone while they transferred it to tape.
So when I slipped it in to the CD tray of the big stereo downstairs, and settled back on the couch, and the music washed over me, I never expected to see the day when Johnny and Nat would be shaking their butts and booji-woojiing to the King of Rock and Roll. And fuck Elvis.
Tears of Joy, baby...Tears of Joy...
